Affirmative Action for Latvian-American Law Teachers!(?)
I demand affirmative action for Latvian American law faculty candidates.
Why?
Well, we are severely underrepresented in American law schools.
How many of us are there in the U.S., you say?

Why?
Well, we are severely underrepresented in American law schools.
How many of us are there in the U.S., you say?
Well, I confess there are not many of us. But there ought to be more of us. And there ought to be more of us in law teaching, don't you agree?
As it stands now, there may be one (1) Latvian-American law teacher in the U.S. That's not many.
Latvian-Americans are surely one of the most insular minorities in America. We are so insular that most Americans don't even know that we exist. (Do we exist if no one hears us?)

Bright & Dark Windows in the Snow
Robert Frost:
I had for my winter evening walk--
No one at all with whom to talk,
But I had the cottages in a row
Up to their shining eyes in snow.
And I thought I had the folk within:
I had the sound of a violin;
I had a glimpse through curtain laces
Of youthful forms and youthful faces.
I had such company outward bound.
I went till there were no cottages found.
I turned and repented, but coming back
I saw no window but that was black.
Over the snow my creaking feet
Disturbed the slumbering village street
Like profanation, by your leave,
At ten o'clock of a winter eve.
