Following the recommendation of Doctor Charles T. Epps, superintendent of the Jersey City public schools, Jersey City board of education ordered the removal of a 97 year-old statute from the front of Public School 11. It appears that Dr. Epps and the board of education figured that the image of a Dutch man, even a venerable Dutch man, is an inappropriate one to stand in front of Martin Luther King, Jr., School.
